If I had to describe the stories contained within this collection with one word, I'd have to choose "disturbing." Not just your run-of-the-mill creepy, but the real, spine-prickling, heart-pumping deal.
The first story, Baby Blue, was the most character-driven short, and the only one that made me choke up a little at the end. It could definitely be expanded into an entire book.
Vanilla Red, a twisted confession from the dark mind of a killer, was my personal favorite of the three. It creeped me out to an almost ridiculous degree. Not even Ted Dekker can grasp the tortured mind of the darkly insane so quickly and completely as Estevan Vega does here.
The Man in the Colored Room, about a man who wakes up in a white room with nothing but a hot cup of coffee to greet him, was a particularly haunting tale with an ending I didn't see coming.
So here's the deal. If you like books that give you some serious gooseflesh, don't pass this one up.
